What happens in September 2026

Right now, we are a free content platform.
In September, we become something more.

OurRoots Journal launches its full preparation platform in September 2026 — itinerary builder, language tools, repatriation planning, and a live community of diaspora members doing the same work you are doing. Founding Members are the people who build it with us.

When the platform opens to the public, general access will be priced separately. Founding Members — the 500 people who join before launch — lock in lifetime access at the founding price. The preparation materials arrive immediately. The platform, the community, and the live sessions open at launch.

Why we built this

The gap no one was filling

Plenty of sites tell you flight prices. None of them tell you what to do when you walk through the passage at Cape Coast Castle and your body takes over.

"The river forgets its source and dries up."
Yoruba proverb — and the reason OurRoots exists

What was scattered across oceans was never erased — only delayed. The Walk is where the delay ends.

OurRoots editorial

We work with Ghanaians on the ground — local guides, cultural custodians, and community members — to make sure what you prepare for is what you will actually find.

Questions

Things people ask

Do I need to be planning a trip to benefit? +
No. Many members join long before they have a date. The tools are useful at every stage — from early curiosity to active planning. Some people use The Walk to understand their heritage without ever intending to travel. That is completely valid.
Which African countries does The Walk cover? +
The current version focuses on West Africa, with depth on Ghana. The research, DNA context, and identity tools apply across the diaspora. We are building content for Nigeria, Senegal, Benin, and Côte d'Ivoire — members get access as it launches.
Is there a subscription or recurring charge? +
No. There are no subscriptions, no renewals, and no recurring charges of any kind. Heritage Prep Pack ($37) and Founding Member ($197) are both one-time purchases. You pay once and the access is yours permanently. See our refund policy for full details.
What if I'm not sure which option is right for me? +
If you are ready to go deeper but not yet ready for the full commitment, start with the Heritage Prep Pack at $37. It gives you the core preparation materials you need — available immediately and permanently yours. If you want the community, the live Zoom sessions, and lifetime platform access when OurRoots launches in September 2026, the Founding Member option at $197 is the one. Your preparation pack is available straight away; the live sessions, Circle community, and full platform open at launch. There are only 500 Founding Member seats. When they are gone, this offer closes.
What does "500 seats" mean for Founding Member? +
We are limiting the founding cohort to 500 people. This is not a marketing tactic — it is how we keep the live Zoom sessions personal and the community meaningful. Your preparation materials are available straight away. The Zoom sessions, Circle community, and full OurRoots platform open at launch in September 2026. When 500 seats are filled, the Founding Member offer closes. The $197 price will not return. Future platform access will be priced separately after launch.
Is this a travel agency? +
No. We do not book flights, hotels, or tours, and we receive no commissions from anyone who does. We are a preparation and education platform. The tools we build help you understand, plan, and emotionally prepare — what you do with that is yours.
Who operates OurRoots Journal? +
OurRoots Journal is published by OurRoots.Africa, a venture of Digital Assets Africa Ltd. Our Australian operating entity is 3Men Pty Ltd (ABN 83 678 873 839). Payments are processed securely by Stripe.
